AK small distribution boards from Spelsberg have for decades now proven to be suitable product solutions in highly-demanding installation situations, in particular in commerce and industry. Today they are characterised primarily by their flexibility, ease of handling, and more distributor space per housing, all with the highest level of reliability.

New PE/N-terminals in AK small distribution boards
The new generation of terminals in the AK Air small distribution board makes it even easier to connect protective and neutral conductors. Developed on the basis of proven technology, the new AK PE/N-terminal block fulfills frequently expressed customer wishes and makes working with the small distribution boards even more flexible.
Applications for which only one terminal block is required are now even easier to implement. We have integrated the PE/N-terminal block into the base support to enable it to be fitted with just one terminal.
With the new PE/N-terminal block, the AK small distribution board has the right number of N-potentials for every application. Up to four N-modules can be installed in the distributor - individually, so that up to four potentials are available, or combined via jumpers.
Two additional units per row
The wide housing designs of all AK variants offer the installation technician a clear space advantage when wiring, since 14 modules per row rather than the normal 12 can be fitted. This allows the necessary spare modules to be provided for retrofitting or expansion of the system, for example.
Unrestricted handling of the frequently used installation terminal blocks, such as three- and four-level terminal blocks, as required in industry and commerce, is enabled by the additional space provided. Even high-current terminal blocks can be positioned without tools on height-adjustable standard rails in such a way that connected cables with large conductor cross sections do not risk being crushed. This opens up a variety of possibilities and ensures that installation work is carried out with ease.
The two additional modules then allow accommodation in a single row of, by way of example, one surge protector (3-pole), one residual current circuit breaker and six load current circuit breakers.
Additional housing space on Plus variants
The AK Plus variants have an additional connection space with a 35 mm standard rail, on which the installation and terminal blocks or switching and control devices can be quickly and conveniently mounted.
Following assembly, the additional row remains hidden by a non-transparent cover. This ensures an uncluttered appearance and also prevents unauthorised access to the components.
The space above and below the rail-mounted devices can be used as required and provides options for integration and supply of the input and output terminals. The cover of the AK small distribution board can be rotated through 180°.
Effective and maintenance-free protection from condensation
The Air ventilation element prevents condensation whilst maintaining the high level of IP65 protection. Condensate build-up, which occurs in housings with a high degree of protection due to changes in temperature as a result of external influences, and dissipation from the components fitted, is rapidly removed from the housing through air exchange. Due to the constant and high rate of air exchange the internal air is always able to mix with the ambient air and transports the moisture to the outside.
The AK small distribution board combines both outstanding functionality and resistance. Even under extreme conditions, such as dusty environments in the industrial arena, it guarantees a high degree of reliability and safety. The robust polycarbonate housing with a mechanical impact resistance of IK08 is able to withstand the effects of collisions or impacts and is reliably protected to IP65 level against water jets and dust.
VDE certification
AK small distribution boards from Spelsberg are certified to EN 60670-24. EN 60670-24, which since March 2014 has been equivalent to VDE 0606-24, establishes the particular requirements for housings that accommodate protection devices and similar energy-consuming devices for household and similar fixed electrical installation. In installations with a rated voltage of not more than 400V and a supply current of up to and including 125A, VDE-certified AK small distribution boards give you the security you need.
DLG focus test
The ammonia resistance of the new AKs has been lab tested according to the DLG test standard for agricultural use in the form of atmosphere testing. The lab test by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) for NH3 resistance, shows that the test samples of all materials of the AK III are resistant to the effect of stable air for a period of use of at least 20 years.
