The Abox series from Spelsberg has established itself on the market over decades - with junction boxes that are ideally suited for various installation situations and that benefit from minimal installation effort. Electrical installers can continue to count on this when they use Spelsberg's Abox in the standard or Pro version. "We have stuck with the tried and tested, so that installers can continue to count on what they know," says Heiko Brüsewitz, Product Manager at Spelsberg. "However, they can now also benefit from innovations such as an even larger and more flexible interior, which offers maximum convenience. During development, we focussed on the needs of our customers and therefore designed the new Abox and Abox Pro together with installers and engineers from the industry."
A new generation with Pro version for unprotected outdoor areas
Since their market launch, the Abox junction boxes have stood out as robust products for a wide range of applications. The new generation opens up even more application possibilities: It includes the Pro version, which withstands the extreme demands of unprotected outdoor areas and industrial environments. New fields of application can also be investigated into thanks to the new practical size of the standard Abox 025/2, which contains separate clamping areas for data and power cables, as a result of the additional installation space. In order to provide the right junction box for every application and environment, Spelsberg offers two versions in a total of eight sizes and a wide choice of colours. In addition to grey, the Abox and Abox Pro are available in black and white together with a red cover to identify safety lighting.
DNV certification enables use in Marine applications
All new Aboxes have a higher degree of protection than their predecessor models. Both the standard version and the Pro version have IP66 protection, while the Abox Pro also has IP67/69. This means, that they can be used in areas with stringent requirements regarding the prevention of water ingress. The Pro version also has extremely high IK09 impact resistance. For use in floodplains and underground, Spelsberg continues to offer the XT version, with cast resin technology that allows permanent submersion. The new generation is VDE and DLG-certified, and the Pro version is also approved for use in shipping thanks to a DNV certification.
Quick and easy junction box installation
The new junction boxes not only stand for maximum variety, but also for maximum efficiency during installation. Installation is quicker and easier than ever thanks to some groundbreaking improvements. Continuous centre markings on the box enable quick and precise alignment, by laser for example, making tedious measuring a thing of the past. Thanks to the soft, self-sealing insertion membranes of the standard models for cable cross-sections up to 10 mm2, the installer no longer needs any tools to open the cable entries. These are also easily removed to allow the use of cable glands, for example. This makes wiring more convenient for the electrical installer, e.g. during maintenance and troubleshooting. This is also ensured by Pozidriv/slotted screws for the terminal and cover, which not only withstand all weather conditions but also allow fastening of all screws with just one tool. Thanks also to the high-set terminals from the Abox 060 and Abox Pro 060 upwards, wiring is quick and easy. For use in industrial environments on cable support systems, the new Abox generation has 3 cable entries on at least one side, even from the smallest size of Abox 025. The Abox can be quickly and securely fastened to the cable tray or wall using the new sturdy external fixing lugs. Spelsberg's range of accessories includes a mounting kit for quick installation on round masts or pipes, which guarantees effortless installation and secure attachment thanks to coordinated components.
"Small details that make a big difference"
Also new: captive installation accessories, which are included, and WAGO plug-in terminals supplied with the Abox 025 and Abox 040. Thanks to its flat cover, the new Abox is also ideally suited for the use of built-in components such as control and signalling devices as well as for individual labelling. The Schalksmühle-based manufacturer has also expanded its range of accessories. "We have improved our Abox with many small details that make a big difference in the everyday life of the installer," concludes Heiko Brüsewitz.
