Photovoltaics per DIN VDE 0100-712
Since the periphery of photovoltaics systems is mostly installed outdoors, the following important protection requirements apply to the installation of a PV system:
- External influences such as wind, ice formation, temperature and solar radiation must be taken into account.
- It must be ensured that heat generated by direct sunlight is dissipated.
- All junction boxes (PV generator junction box and PV sub-generator junction box) must be equipped with a warning indicating that live parts in the junction boxes may remain energized after disconnection from the PV inverter.
The requirements for shutting down the PV system for maintenance work are contained in VDE 0100-712, section 537.
Particularly suitable for these specific requirements: RK-PV, AK Air Small distribution board, AKi, GTi, TK-PC, TG-PC and GEOS.
Furthermore, ventilation and/or drainage is mandatory!
VDE-AR-N 4105 Generation systems on low-voltage network
The VDE-AR-N 4105 "Generation systems on the low-voltage network – Technical minimum requirements for connection and parallel operation of generation systems on the low-voltage network" regulates the connection of generation systems such as PV systems to the low-voltage network. The standard serves installers and network operators as a planning basis and decision aid. According to the application rules VDE-AR-N 4105:2018-11, a network and plant protection for solar systems is required and applies to all generation systems from 30 kW to 135 kW. Spelsberg's network and plant protection is intended to solve two fundamental challenges when feeding decentralized generated energy into the low-voltage network:
- Compliance with voltage and frequency limits in the power grid
- The shutdown of islanded networks in the event of maintenance work by a qualified electrician
According to VDE 4105, this is a "type-tested protective device with proof of conformity" that constantly monitors the voltage and frequency of the supply grid to ensure they remain within the specified tolerances.
