The quality seal is awarded on the basis of an anonymous survey of trainees. In around 100 questions, they assess, among other things, the content of their training, interactions within the company, supervision and their personal future prospects. Objective indicators such as the retention and dropout rates are also incorporated into the assessment. The combination of the trainees’ assessment and measurable criteria makes the award a meaningful quality indicator for training companies. “We are particularly pleased to have received the quality seal for the twelfth consecutive time. The award shows that our commitment to good training is also convincing from the perspective of our trainees,” says Lucas Hohnbaum, an industrial clerk trainee at Spelsberg. “Our goal is to impart sound specialist knowledge to young people while also giving them responsibility at an early stage and opening up prospects for their further professional development.”
Training with prospects and development opportunities
Training at Spelsberg offers a wide range of opportunities. In addition to the benefits provided under a collective agreement, trainees benefit from qualified and committed trainers, a mentoring program and internal trainee projects. They can also gain practical experience at an early stage through trade fair assignments and represent the company externally. A wide range of continuing education opportunities complements the training program. Furthermore, trainees have the opportunity to complete a degree during or after their training.
For the 2027 training year, Spelsberg is already looking for new trainees in various professional fields. Training positions are available as industrial clerk, industrial electrician for devices and systems, plastics and rubber technologist, tool mechanic and technical product designer. In addition, the company will offer the opportunity to pursue a dual-study program next year.
Growing through responsibility
An essential part of the training concept is assigning responsibility at an early stage. Trainees are given their own tasks and are actively integrated into workflows and teams from the outset. For Spelsberg, this involves building professional expertise. Alongside the ability to take on responsibility, personal development and initiative also play an important role. “Our trainees should feel like full members of staff from the very beginning and experience that their ideas and commitment are valued,” emphasizes Lucas Hohnbaum. “For us, this also includes good cooperation. After all, a strong team in which young people feel comfortable and can develop is the basis for successful training.”
The renewed award confirms Spelsberg’s consistent commitment to developing its own young talent. With practical training, personal development opportunities and long-term prospects, the manufacturer from Schalksmühle creates attractive conditions for starting a career while laying the foundation for the long-term development of qualified young professionals.
