Strong protection for cables

The PV Lifeline line protection conduit from Spelsberg provides reliable insulation and efficient installation.

Schalksmühle/Buttstädt, Germany. Increased safety for DC cables in photovoltaics – with the new PV Lifeline line protection conduit from Spelsberg. It ensures that PV lines in buildings are completely enclosed and protected against mechanical influences at all times in accordance with the requirements of DIN 4102 – even in the unlikely event that the cables cause a fire.

On the DC side of PV systems, high voltages of up to 1000 volts are often present, far more than the protective voltage of 120 V DC. In a fire or during maintenance, these cables pose a safety risk, so in buildings they must be specially insulated with appropriate fireproof conduits and ducts. In rescue routes as well, DC lines may only be installed in a fireproof conduit or above a fireproof ceiling according to the official wiring system guidelines (MLAR) and the state building regulations (LBO).

PV Lifeline satisfies the required safety measures perfectly. The WKE PV 65 and WKE PV 115 conduits ensure complete mechanical protection for PV cables while enclosing the conducting lines so that nobody can touch them in a fire. The line protection conduit is not only extremely safe, it can also be installed very efficiently as it can be assembled and screwed into place without accessories so leftovers can be reused. PV Lifeline is especially suitable for retrofitting older systems and buildings.

The WKE PV conduits can be used on any wall type. With their F30 fire resistance rating, they satisfy the requirements of DIN 4102. Their orange colour ensures that their installation paths are easily recognised. The PV Lifeline conduits are suitable for DC lines according to E VDE-AR- 2100-712.
